Designed for both beginners and those looking to strengthen their foundation, this session defines and breaks down the different types of synthesis and how digital sounds are created, shaped, and refined.

Mel will guide attendees through the basics of synthesis—covering waveforms, oscillators, filters, envelopes, and modulation—while demonstrating how these elements come together to build everything from simple tones to complex textures.

Examples will be taught using Ableton and MAX/MSP, however, concepts and tools taught in this lecture can be used in any DAW.

Note: This is not an a cappella or vocal production class. However, these foundations will broaden your production knowledge building your skills in sound design.
